Our 100% Natural Raw Desiccated Thyroid can help:
Everyone knows that adequate thyroid hormone levels are essential to proper thyroid function.
What most don’t know is this…
The older we become and/or the more stress we are under, the more thyroid hormone we need to compensate.
And because of this, supplementing thyroid hormone is often a necessity to help break many of the thyroid-suppressive feedback cycles that keep you trapped in a state of hypothyroidism.
For most, this means boosting their active T3 thyroid hormone levels, which we’ll cover in just a second.
Yet, most thyroid sufferers often run into one or more of the following roadblocks in the process.
We’ve seen these roadblocks with so many of our clients, and how they can interfere with the process of improving one’s thyroid health.
Roadblock #1: Using Inactive T4 Without Active T3 Thyroid Hormone
It should make sense that when supplementing or medicating with thyroid hormone, you should do so in a way that would mimic what your thyroid gland would naturally produce on its own.
This means supporting both inactive T4 and active T3 thyroid hormone levels.
Yet, the common medical approach to treating hypothyroidism is with T4-only medications that ignore the greater need for active T3 thyroid hormone.
This is a big mistake considering that supplementing inactive T4 thyroid hormone without active T3 can directly interfere with proper thyroid function.
So, it’s important that inactive T4 and active T3 thyroid hormones be used together, and in the proper balance, to avoid this.
Yet, many thyroid sufferers are stuck with T4-Only thyroid medication as their only option.
Roadblock #2: Being Undiagnosed or Misdiagnosed
We also have many clients who have remained undiagnosed or misdiagnosed by their doctor and therefore are refused a prescription for any thyroid medication.
In most of these cases, supplemental thyroid is still warranted and necessary.
Roadblock #3: Being Prescribed an Inadequate Dosage
Then there is the group who are diagnosed and prescribed the right thyroid medication, but at a dosage that is inadequate for their needs.
Their doctor was willing to prescribe them proper medication, but they found the dosage was inadequate and their doctor was unwilling to adjust it.
Roadblock #4: Using Thyroid Only Once Daily (Not Multi-Dosing)
Last but not least, we have those who are using a supplement or medication containing active T3 thyroid hormone, yet who are only using it once daily.
The problem here is that active T3 thyroid hormone has a relatively short half-life.
This means that active T3 thyroid hormone remains active in your bloodstream for only a short period of time before being eliminated.
When used once daily, T3 levels won’t remain stable and instead experience a roller-coaster like up and down effect. They tend to rise quickly for a number of hours and then drop back to their typically low values for the remainder of the day.
So, the positive effects are relatively short lived.
In order to get the maximum benefit and keep T3 levels stable, one needs to supplement T3 multiple times per day.
This idea of using smaller yet multiple doses throughout the day is often referred to as multi-dosing.
There have been a few studies comparing patient responses to naturally desiccated thyroid and the standard treatment of T4-Only medications.
Not only is desiccated thyroid more commonly preferred over T4-Only medications, desiccated thyroid has also been shown to better regulate T3 thyroid hormone levels.
One study comparing patients treated with T4-Only thyroid medication to non-treated thyroid sufferers showed no improvement in active T3 thyroid hormone levels in the treated group.
What’s more interesting is that the T4-Only treated group suffered worse thyroid symptoms than the thyroid sufferers who had never been treated!

At Forefront Health, we specially source and formulate our supplements for optimal thyroid function, using only the purest ingredients for best results.
Our Raw Desiccated Thyroid is now available in two dosages, 65 milligram (mg) and 130 mg capsules for better ease of use.
If you are currently not using thyroid medication or using a T4-Only medication (i.e. levothyroxine, Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid, Unithroid, etc.), we recommend starting with 65 mg twice daily with breakfast and lunch. If tolerated, another 65 mg can be added with dinner.
If you’re currently using desiccated thyroid or a T3-only medication once daily (i.e. in the morning), we recommend starting with 65 mg with lunch and, if tolerated, another 65 mg can be added with dinner.
For multi-dosing purposes, it’s optimal to use every 4 to 6 hours (3 to 4 times daily).
Every two weeks an additional 65 mg of raw desiccated thyroid can be added, starting with your first dosage of the day, until you’ve reached your desired results or you’ve reached the maximum recommended daily dosage marked on the supplement container.
Once you’ve settled on your desired dosage, you can use any combination of our 65 mg or 130 mg capsule sizes to best fit your needs.
(1) Our raw desiccated thyroid is not designed to be used as a replacement for prescribed medication. However, it can be combined with prescribed medication if/when needed.
(2) Many advise against taking desiccated thyroid with food because some research suggests that certain foods and supplements can affect your ability to absorb it. However, this is not a real concern if you follow our dietary recommendations. We have recommended our clients use desiccated thyroid with food for many years without ever experiencing a problem. However, if you are still concerned then you can always take it on an empty stomach.
(3) If you take too much of the thyroid supplement at one time, you may become temporarily hyperthyroid, which increases your sensitivity to adrenaline. This can result in uncomfortable symptoms such as elevated heart rate, heart palpitations, and anxiety which can last the better part of the day or until the excess thyroid hormone is out of your system. If you experience this, it is best to reduce the dosage to a tolerable level.
